Environmental Product Declarations for EXTE spacers
Transparency for sustainable construction: now available – five Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for concrete accessories and spacers.
The verified EPDs provide our customers in the precast concrete industry, construction sector and building materials trade with a reliable basis for sustainability assessments, tenders and building certification schemes. The declarations have been prepared in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804 and published in the Swedish International EPD System.
Greater transparency throughout the entire product life cycle
The EPDs document the environmental impacts of our products throughout the assessed life cycle (Life Cycle Analysis – LCA) – from raw material extraction and processing through production to the defined end-of-life scenarios.
This provides planners, construction companies and precast concrete manufacturers with reliable environmental performance data to support sustainability documentation and qualification for public tenders.
Key results at a glance
The Global Warming Potential (GWP), also referred to as a product’s carbon footprint, indicates its contribution to climate change and is expressed in kg CO₂ equivalent. The figures below refer to the carbon footprint of the manufacturing stage per kilogram of product (Module A1–A3).
| Product group | Recycling content | GWP-total In kg CO2 eq. |
|---|---|---|
| Plastic spacers made from recycled material | 99% | 0,85 |
| Plastic spacers "light grey" | 99% | 1,08 |
| Steel spacers | 82% | 0,90 |
| Plastic-steel combination products (mixed materials) | 90,5% | 4,01 |
| Plastic products made from virgin material | 0% | 3,16 |
Sustainability as an integral part of our product strategy
The results demonstrate that the use of recycled materials can make a significant contribution to reducing both resource consumption and environmental impacts. Many of our products already contain a very high ratio of recycled materials.
At the same time, our manufacturing processes at our Nienburg production site ensure efficient, high-quality production. Our energy management system is certified in accordance with ISO 50001.
Complete EPDs now available
The full Environmental Product Declarations, including all environmental indicators, system boundaries and background information, are now available in the download section of our website.
With the EPDs, we provide maximum transparency for sustainable construction projects and support our customers in documenting and assessing the environmental performance of their construction products.
